Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers on pricing, booking, and how SRVCBR actually works — from our founder, Kelly Crawford.

Pricing

How much does it cost to hire a DJ?

For weddings, expect $200–$300 an hour for a DJ with two speakers and a light bar. Corporate events run $100–$200 an hour. Every booking has a four-hour minimum, and time past that is billed at 1.5x the hourly rate.

What drives the price up?

Overtime past the four-hour minimum, and anything beyond the baseline lighting and sound setup — uplighting, extra speakers, stage lighting. Those are add-ons, not automatic inclusions, so ask about them up front.

What's included in a DJ package?

Every package includes speakers, a light bar, a microphone, a DJ controller, and the DJ. Higher tiers add uplighting, and the top tier adds stage lighting, pin spots, and full production touches. Photo booths and extra sound coverage are priced as add-ons.

Booking

How far in advance should I book?

90 days out is ideal, and we take bookings up to a year ahead. Rush bookings are possible in an emergency but aren't guaranteed — we've covered a wedding with four hours' notice before, but plan around 90 days.

What's your deposit and contract policy?

Contracts are signed up to 90 days out, with the deposit due at the 30-day mark and the remaining balance due day-of.

What happens if my DJ can't make it?

We provide a backup from the roster. If no backup is available, you get a full refund for the entire event.

Choosing the Right Fit

What should I ask a DJ before booking?

How long they've been DJing, how they handle song requests, and how big their ego is. A DJ who won't listen to your vision on the day of your event is the biggest red flag there is.

Should I hire a DJ or a live band?

It depends on guest count, venue (indoor vs. outdoor), and your crowd's age range. Large weddings and outdoor events need more sound and lighting coverage. If your crowd leans older or loves live music, a band may be the better fit — we'll tell you if that's the case.

Do you treat weddings, corporate events, and private parties differently?

No. Every event gets the same level of care and attention, regardless of size or type.

Working With Your Team

How do you coordinate with my other vendors (photographer, videographer, planner)?

Everything is locked down before setup starts: pre-event emails, a tight day-of schedule, and staying on time throughout — especially where venues have noise ordinances or hard cutoffs.

How do DJs get onto the SRVCBR roster?

In-person vetting or a strong referral from a past client or vendor — we don't take demo videos or digital mixes. Experience level matters less than energy, attitude, and song selection, and every roster DJ holds the same professional standard.
